Belton HS Graduate Receives Scholarship from Lone Star Ag Credit

FORT WORTH, Texas – Grant Read of Temple is one of six recipients of a 2015 scholarship from Lone Star Ag Credit. Read and the other winners each received a $2,500 scholarship.

Read is a recent graduate of Belton High School. He plans to attend Texas A&M University next fall, where he has been accepted into the College of Biomedical Sciences and Veterinarian Medicine. He was active in FFA and Bell County 4-H, showing goats, sheep and cattle. He also competed in archery, livestock judging and quiz bowl. A few of the ways Read gave back to his community were through his church, First Baptist-Belton, Relay for Life and the Ronald McDonald House.

"It is a reminder when we see outstanding contributions to and regard for agriculture by students like Grant that the future is bright. On behalf of Lone Star Ag Credit, it is a pleasure to award scholarships to students like this." Jason Collier, Temple Vice President of Lending, said.

Lone Star Ag Credit provides financing for rural land, rural homes, agribusinesses, livestock, agricultural equipment and operating expenses. It is headquartered in Fort Worth and has credit offices in Abilene, Cleburne, Corsicana, Denton, Fort Worth, Hillsboro, Lampasas, Mount Pleasant, New Boston, Paris, Round Rock, Sherman, Stephenville, Sweetwater, Temple, Waco and Weatherford.

The lending organization is a part of the nationwide Farm Credit System.
