2015 Scholarship Winners

Grant Read Scholarship Winnner

Grant Read – Belton High

Read is a recent graduate of Belton High School. He plans to attend Texas A&M University next fall, where he has been accepted into the College of Biomedical Sciences and Veterinarian Medicine. He was active in FFA and Bell County 4-H, showing goats, sheep and cattle. He also competed in archery, livestock judging and quiz bowl. A few of the ways Read gave back to his community were through his church, First Baptist-Belton, Relay for Life and the Ronald McDonald House.

Jordain Williams

Jordain Williams – Cranfills Gap High

Williams is a recent graduate of Cranfills Gap High School. She plans to attend Tarleton State University next fall. She has been giving her time to her community in many ways by cleaning kennels at the local veterinary clinic, doing highway clean up and volunteering at the annual Septemberfest. Williams was also active in 4H, FFA and the Texas Red Angus Association.

Lanham Brown

Lanham Brown – Throckmorton High

Lanham Brown is a recent graduate of Throckmorton High School. He plans to attend Texas Tech University next fall. Throughout his high school career in Throckmorton he was a member of a state championship football team, served in leadership roles in both FFA and 4-H as well as sat on the board of the Chamber of Commerce. Brown served the community in many ways by volunteering at sports camps for kids, Christmas Angels, serving meals at the Faith Mission Homeless Shelter and participating in Planet Agriculture at the West Texas State Fair. He is also a member of The Christian Center, Texas and Southwestern Cattle Raisers Association, Texas Junior Red Angus Association and the Ranch Horse Association of America.

Mayzie Purviance

Mayzie Purviance – Rivercrest High (Bogata, Texas)

Mayzie Purviance is a recent graduate of Rivercrest High School. She plans to attend Paris Junior College next fall. She was active in 4-H, the Rivercrest FFA Chapter, National Honor Society, and the Rivercrest softball team. She also volunteered with the Regency Nursing Home, Bogota Food Pantry, Spirit of Giving and the Buckner Orphanage Shoe Warehouse in Dallas.

Jimmie Gee

Jimmie Gee – Springtown High

Jimmie Gee is a recent graduate of Springtown High School. She plans to attend Texas A&M University next fall and double-major in agricultural sciences and animal science. She participated in honors band, varsity golf and the Texas Longhorn Breeders of Tomorrow Association. She showed swine, sheep and cattle, and served in several leadership roles in the Springtown FFA Chapter. Gee also is an active member of the Hilltop Family Church.

Katy Wilkins

Katy Wilkins – Prairiland High (Pattonville, Texas)

Katy Wilkins recently graduated from Prairiland High School. She plans to attend Texas A&M University next fall. Her memberships include BETA Club, Phi Kappa Theta Honor Society, FFA, Youth for Christ and Fellowship of Christian Athletes. She gave back to her communities in many ways, including showing the process of milk production in a mobile dairy, volunteering at Pine Cove Christian Camp and delivering for Meals on Wheels.
